Controversial K-Pop Agency Faces Backlash Over Bold New Project Featuring Female Idols

"Spicy" K-Pop Company Criticized For "Disgusting" New Venture With Female Idols

RBW Entertainment faces backlash over AI chat app featuring female idols

RBW Entertainment is under fire for promoting an AI chat app that lets fans simulate conversations with their idols, including MAMAMOO’s Solar, OH MY GIRL’s Hyojung, and Young Posse’s Jiana. The company’s official Japanese account tagged these idols to promote the app “almigo,” which offers a “spicy” paid subscription option.

The controversy erupted as netizens slammed the app for enabling inappropriate simulated “spicy talk,” raising concerns over deepfake misuse and sexualization of female idols. Fans were outraged after discovering that some content features Young Posse members from their debut era, when some were minors.

Fan tweet:
“RBW invested in an ai site that includes chats with the young posse members (+ other RBW idols). The vids are from debut era, where the girls were 13, 15, 17, 19, and 19. they also added Jiana onto the sexualized chatbox option, using her 17-year-old self as the selection.” — @doeunfy

Social media blew up with backlash:

Fan tweet:
“RBW digging their own grave by thinking that AI ‘spicy talk’ will gain more fans. This will only attract creeps who want parasocial relationships. And the fact that they’re only using their female artists and uploading on their Japanese account thinking they can hide it from fans…” — @gamja619

Fan tweet:
“please report it! RBW is promoting an app that uses AI to have spicy talks with the idol. Solar, and no artist deserves this, it’s disrespectful and completely clueless PROTECT YOUR ARTIST!” — @byeoolda

Fan tweet:
“I wish the affected girls could sue rbw over this, absolutely NO ONE would agree to sell their image like this” — @swfstagram

Fan tweet (moonbyul):
“rbw is genuinely so out of touch with what fans want and how to successfully run an entertainment business. they’ve tried selling us gold bars, nfts and now ai deepfake chat bots- all unsuccessful endeavors that just pissed fans off. treat your artists like artists, not products” — @KIWIBYULIE

Fan tweet:
“Rbw using AI of their female idols for a chat app that includes a SPICY paid subscription is not only disgusting it’s so fvcking dangerous” — @itsMaJo

Many fans are calling for reports and boycotts:

Fan tweet:
“Every fan who support an RBW Idol/Group under one of their sub-labels should not only report this app, but boycott the whole company! They’re using UNDERAGE Idols on a NSFW APP!!!” — @SDavid3388

Netizens are demanding RBW respond immediately to the uproar over the app’s use of AI and the troubling inclusion of minors in sexualized content. The situation is rapidly gaining traction. RBW has yet to officially comment.
