MC Mong is stepping down from producer roles amid mental health struggles and ongoing controversies.
The producer, recently ousted from One Hundred Label alongside former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon—who faced a scandal involving a porn star—and accused of trying to poach EXO-CBX from SM Entertainment, revealed he’s battling severe depression.
On July 17, 2025 (KST), MC Mong opened up on social media about his health issues, saying, “making music has become extremely difficult” due to his condition.
Hello, fans! First of all, I thought it was most important to let you all know first. I’ve been struggling deeply with severe depression, had one surgery, and my health has deteriorated to the point that making music has become extremely difficult.

He confirmed he will step down from all producer duties at BPM and One Hundred Label, entrusting them to Chairman Cha Ga Won.
His reason: to focus on his health and personal growth through studying abroad.
“There’s no need to pay attention to the rumors floating around like baseless gossip. I’ve decided to choose a path that will allow me to keep making music for a longer time. I’ve entrusted all my producer duties at BPM and my dearest One Hundred Label to Chairman Cha Ga Won, and I’ve decided to go study abroad for the sake of my health and personal growth. Though I’m at an age where this may seem late, I sincerely want to improve and become healthier.”
“I’ll be preparing and releasing an album this year. I think of this as my last big wish—to fully focus on studying music and language… I promise to release an album this year no matter what, and to hold a concert before I leave to study abroad, even if I don’t know when I’ll be able to do one again.”

Despite the backlash, MC Mong calls the rumors “baseless gossip”.
He promises fans a new album and a concert before leaving, putting his career on hold to prioritize his mental health.
