IVE’s agency Starship Entertainment just scored a legal win against the Sojang YouTube channel, known for spreading false rumors about celebrities. But the drama isn’t over—Sojang’s operator has already filed an appeal against the recent ruling.

The controversy began when, on June 4, Judge Choi Mi Young ruled that Sojang’s operator must pay Starship Entertainment 50 million KRW (about $36,500) in damages. Starship originally sought 100 million KRW (around $73,000).

Sojang gained infamy for targeting stars like Jang Won Young, BTS, EXO, aespa, and Kang Daniel, consistently posting damaging content from October 2021 to June 2023. Reports suggest she raked in approximately 250 million KRW (about $180,000) from these videos.

"Sojang is facing ongoing lawsuits from BTS, EXO, aespa, and Kang Daniel," said legal sources.

In a related criminal case, Sojang’s operator was sentenced to two years in prison, which was suspended for three years. Prosecutors weren’t satisfied and have also filed an appeal. Jang Won Young secured a partial win in a separate lawsuit, with the court awarding her 50 million KRW for damages.

Stay tuned as this case continues to unfold.
