DAY6 is facing controversy after reportedly demanding excessive personal information from fans during their recent fanmeeting.
JYP Entertainment has issued a second official apology and announced a refund policy due to complaints about overly strict ID checks.
The controversy began on February 18th to 20th at the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING in Seoul. Fans voiced their frustrations online about the invasive ID verification procedures.
JYP said in a statement:
“We sincerely apologize to the fans who experienced inconvenience due to the excessive identity verification procedures during entry.”
Refunds will be processed for ticket holders from the first three rounds of the fanmeeting if they were denied entry. However, only tickets not scanned for admission will qualify.
The agency continued:
“We recognize the seriousness of the issue and will strive to improve and prevent recurrence.”
This situation escalated when JYP released an initial apology on the 21st, explaining that the ID checks were intended to combat illegal ticket resales but were poorly executed.
They stated:
“We failed to respond flexibly and did not properly uphold our management responsibilities in this case.”
Fans are clearly dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. JYP promises to protect individuals’ privacy moving forward.
The backlash continues as fans await further actions from the agency.
