Director of ‘Mercy for None’ Affirms So Ji-sub as Fans’ Preferred Casting Choice

So Ji-sub stars in Netflix’s ‘Mercy for None’ amid high expectations

So Ji-sub is set to take on the lead role in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Mercy for None’.

The show’s director, Choi Sung-eun, expressed excitement about So Ji-sub’s casting during a recent press conference at the Ambassador Seoul – Pullman Hotel.

So Ji-sub was the actor fans wanted the most for this role,” Choi stated. The series also features Gong Myung, Chu Young-woo, Ahn Kil-kang, Jo Han-chul, and Lee Jun-hyuk.

Based on a popular webtoon, ‘Mercy for None’ follows Ki-joon, a former enforcer who cut his own Achilles tendon to escape the underworld. Eleven years later, he returns to seek revenge after his brother’s death.

Choi emphasized the emotional depth in the series’ action:

“I wanted the audience to feel Ki-joon’s emotions through the action. Without that, he might just come across as violent. I hoped each punch, though rough, would still carry weight.”

‘Mercy for None’ premieres June 6 exclusively on Netflix.
