Former NCT Taeil is fighting back after his prison sentence for aggravated quasi-rape.
Taeil filed an appeal on July 16, one day after prosecutors also appealed the ruling. Both sides will clash again in the appellate court.
On July 10, Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 26 sentenced Taeil to 3 years and 6 months in prison for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. Taeil had been on trial without detention but was taken into custody immediately after the verdict.
Taeil and his two co-defendants admitted all charges in the first trial, but Taeil’s legal team pushed for leniency.
"He voluntarily submitted a statement to the police and despite difficulties, he reached a settlement with the Chinese victim, who also submitted a statement of non-punishment."

The other two defendants have also appealed. Prosecutors originally sought 7 years in prison and a 10-year employment ban for all three.
Netizens are watching closely, hoping for a sentence that fits the severity of the crime.
