Fact Check: Are Labubu Dolls Prohibited in Korea?

Fact Check: Are Labubu Dolls Officially Banned In Korea?

BLACKPINK’s Lisa helped push the Labubu doll craze worldwide. Now, Pop Mart has suspended all offline Labubu doll sales in Korea due to safety concerns.

Labubu dolls are plush toys from China, popular for their variety of colors and rare styles. Fans often pay high resale prices or camp overnight hoping to score specific dolls. The blind box format means buyers don’t get to pick their exact doll, fueling demand and frenzy.

After Lisa and other celebrities flaunted the dolls, lines formed at stores whenever there were restocks.

Pop Mart shut down offline sales "until further notice," citing dangerous crowds at physical stores. The company did not reveal when in-person sales will resume.

Online sales for Labubu dolls remain active, offering a safer alternative for fans.

Pop Mart spokesperson:

"Due to safety concerns from crowds, offline sales will be temporarily suspended."

The cult-like obsession shows no sign of fading, but fans will have to adjust to the new buying restrictions.
