Ji Seung Hyun faces backlash for daring villain role in hit K-Drama
Ji Seung Hyun is catching heat after playing an adulterous husband so well in SBS’s The Good Partner that viewers couldn’t separate actor from character.
The controversy began during the show’s August-September 2024 run. Ji Seung Hyun shared on MBC’s Radio Star that the public reaction was so intense, he had to post an apology video.
The backlash hit him hard in real life. He revealed that at a gas station, the owner actually smacked him on the back.
He also overheard guests whispering at a staff wedding, “Isn’t that Jang Na Ra’s husband? He’s a terrible jerk.”
Ji Seung Hyun anticipated a strong reaction because of his character’s harsh lines.
“There’s a scene where I say to the pregnant woman I had an affair with, ‘Do you have proof it’s my baby?’ and I thought, ‘If this airs, I’m done for.’ Viewers got so immersed that I ended up having to upload an apology video.”
