Kim Ok Vin shocks fans with extreme two-week water and salt diet
Veteran actress Kim Ok Vin opened up about going to drastic lengths for her weight ahead of an awards show.
On the August 14 episode of SBS’ The Queen of Insight Kim Nam Joo, the actress revealed she once survived on just water and salt for two weeks. The extreme starvation method was to fit into a dress for the event.
Kim Ok Vin explained:
“There was a time when I only had water and salt for two weeks just to fit into an awards ceremony dress. I’d been eating away and enjoying myself as usual, and then an awards ceremony comes up where I have to wear a dress… There’s just no other way.”
She also shared her usual strategy to handle hunger while maintaining her figure: eating plenty of meat—grilled chicken, beef, or pork—without seasoning except olive oil and salt, often dipped in low-calorie sauce.
“If I don’t eat meat, I get hungry, so I make sure to have chicken, beef, or pork for at least one meal a day, rotating between them. I grill the meat only with olive oil and salt, no seasoning. When I really crave it, I dip it in a low-calorie sauce.”
Fellow actress Kim Nam Joo admitted that when not working, actresses like them do “eat a lot.”
