SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi is heading to one of South Korea’s toughest military posts, sparking major fan concern.
The star will begin his military training on September 16 — just one day after fellow SEVENTEEN member Woozi. Woozi revealed in a recent livestream that Hoshi will be assigned to the Yeoncheon training camp.
Woozi:
“I have a friend who will enlist a day after me. He’ll go to Yeoncheon.”
Yeoncheon is a frontline base near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a hot spot close to North Korea. It houses the 5th Infantry Division, known as the “Key Division.” This unit is combat-ready and critical for defending South Korea’s border areas.
Assignments there are intense and demanding. Soldiers face heightened alertness and tough conditions compared to more relaxed military posts.
Fans quickly realized the severity of Hoshi’s assignment and voiced concern online.
Fan reaction:
“Yeoncheon? It’s one of the frontline bases near the dmz… Hoshi will be serving in a high-alert, combat-ready zone. It’s a respected and tough post, and knowing him, he’ll give it his all. Still, it’s hard not to worry. Please stay safe, Hoshi :(”
Another fan:
“Hoshi will be assigned in Yeoncheon, one of the front line bases near the DMZ (border line between South Korea & North Korea). It is a well respected tough post since it’s in a high alert, combat ready zone. Serve well and stay safe, Kwon Soonyoung.”
Additional message:
“Hoshi will be assigned in Yeoncheon (DMZ; border line between Sokor & Nokor). Fighting and praying for your safety always”
Despite the worries, fans continue to send well wishes as Hoshi prepares for his military service.
