Former Japanese Idol Accused of Plagiarizing Aespa Song Found Dead

Mizuki Itagaki, the Japanese actor and singer, is at the center of a tragic controversy following his recent passing. Itagaki, a former member of the group M!LK, was found dead in Tokyo after being missing since January. He was only 24 years old.

Itagaki’s family revealed he had been battling mental illness and described his death as an "unfortunate accident." They shared their gratitude to fans and supporters, stating:

“We sincerely thank the fans who warmly supported Mizuki during his lifetime… Mizuki passed away in an unfortunate accident."

The controversy began over allegations that M!LK plagiarized aespa’s song “Whiplash” with their March release “Ii jan / EJan." The group has yet to address the accusations.

Itagaki debuted with M!LK in 2014, leaving the group in 2020 to focus on acting. He appeared in several dramas and films, including “Married Marriage Honey” and “Solomon’s Perjury.” His career was on the rise just before his untimely passing.

As fans and fellow artists mourn his loss, the situation remains under scrutiny.
