Former Miss Korea and TV Personality Discovered on TikTok Following Career Damage from Video Scandal

Miss Korea-Turned-TV-Star Found On TikTok After Her Career Was Ruined By A Sex Video Leak

Han Sung Joo resurfaces on TikTok amid past sex video and assault scandal

Han Sung Joo, crowned Miss Korea in 1994 and former MBC actress and SBS announcer, returned to the public eye after years of silence.

Her career imploded in December 2011 when a private sex video leaked and she became embroiled in an assault dispute with her Taiwanese-American ex-boyfriend, Christopher Hsu.

The court dismissed Hsu’s claims in November 2012, ruling in Han’s favor. Despite this, the scandal halted her career for over a decade.

Now 50, Han Sung Joo has been actively posting on TikTok under the username “Esther.” Her selfies and updates about daily life, including sports and moments with her dog, are gaining attention.

Han even responded to a netizen referencing her past scandal, asking for people to move on.

Comment: Everyone seeks physical intimacy and emotional love. Yours became public only because you were famous, and it must have been such a painful experience for you. Thank you for enduring and holding on. Let’s keep going strong.
Han Sung Joo: Thanks. But sometimes, support comes in the form of pretending not to notice and just moving on. Haha.

Han’s comeback follows steady public appearances since 2023, including attending the Korea–Yonsei rivalry game and posting a photo with former figure skater Kim Yuna.

In 2019, Han earned a Ph.D. in horticultural therapy from Dankook University and focuses on therapy for dementia patients.

Her recent TikTok activity marks her first major presence in years after the 2011 scandal. Fans and netizens continue watching closely.
