Fans of BOYNEXTDOOR were thrilled to discover the heartfelt bond between member Jaehyun and professional baseball player Lee Joo Heon of the LG Twins. The two go way back to their middle school days, and during a recent behind-the-scenes interview on the LG Twins’ YouTube channel, Lee Joo Heon reminisced about their time together.
When asked about his friendship with Jaehyun, Lee Joo Heon shared,
"We were good friends all throughout middle school and high school. We were in the same class in our second year of middle school. I think [Jaehyun] was the school president or vice president in our second year of middle school, and then the school president in high school too. During school festivals, he always went up front and danced."
The conversation took a lighthearted turn when the interviewer mentioned that Jaehyun had talked about Lee on a recent broadcast. Lee’s surprised yet pleased response was,
"Really? I had no idea."
As their discussion continued, Lee Joo Heon reflected on how life pulled them in different directions, particularly as Jaehyun transitioned to his idol training.
"There was no way to stay in touch back then. Around the end of our second year in high school, Jaehyun kind of disappeared. It was hard to see him even in school. I think that was when he started being an idol trainee. From then on, there was no way to keep in touch with him. I actually only found out that Jaehyun debuted when I was in the military. Hearing that, I was like, ‘Jaehyun from Sungnam Middle School and High School?’. It turned out, it was."
Ending on a warm note, Lee extended an invitation to his old friend:
"Come and throw the first pitch for us sometime. It’ll be good to see you again after all this time."
The reunion of these two childhood friends, now shining in their respective fields, is sure to delight fans across both sports and music!
