Go Youn Jung Shares How Her Younger Brother, a Government Worker, Protects Her

Go Youn Jung Reveals How Her Government-Worker Younger Brother Protects Her

Actress Go Youn Jung is experiencing a surge in popularity, thanks in part to her recent role in the hit tvN drama Resident Playbook. During a press interview, she shared insights about her family’s reactions to her rising fame and the circumstances surrounding the drama’s airing.

The premiere of Resident Playbook faced significant delays due to medical staff strikes, yet her mother remained a devoted viewer. Go recounted how her mother took to watching reruns of her previous works to stay connected while waiting for the new series. "My mom loves seeing me on TV," she remarked. "But last year, I didn’t appear on television or OTT platforms, so she’s been rewatching my past work."

Go Youn Jung also discussed her younger brother, who prefers to keep their family ties discreet. A civil servant, a coveted position in South Korea, he has chosen not to disclose his sister’s celebrity status to many of his colleagues and friends. "He recently got a job as a civil servant in Seoul. Everyone in my family is academically gifted — except me," she said, adding, "I don’t think he tells anyone at work that I’m his sister. Aside from a few close friends, it seems like he keeps it to himself."

The artist’s experience reflects a broader trend among celebrities who opt to keep their family backgrounds private, often to maintain a distinct identity away from the public eye. As her career continues to flourish, it remains to be seen how Go Youn Jung will navigate her growing fame while cherishing her family’s support.
