JUST B’s Bain shocks fans by coming out as gay mid-concert
JUST B member Bain officially came out as a gay man during their Los Angeles concert in April 2025. This made him the first active fourth-generation male idol to come out publicly while promoting.
The revelation sparked huge reactions online, with fans and media quickly picking up on the landmark moment. Bain revealed that the group and company had known about his sexuality for two years.
The members have now spoken out about their feelings on Bain’s coming out.
Geonu:
I would like to say it was a “Day of Courage.” It was a day of breaking the new dawn for him and also for our team — it was such a day of legends.Lim Jimin:
I was actually taking a video of Bain backstage and I’ve seen his shows and stages, but “This is the moment,” [I thought]. I was speechless, you know?DY:
To be honest, I didn’t feel particularly surprised. We’ve always known what kind of person Bain is on the inside, but watching him come out on stage did make me think, “How can we turn all those cheers into even greater support for JUST B’s performance and music?” It made me reflect and I actually felt a bit of nervousness as a result, too.
Bain said the members treated him normally that night, showing silent support.
The group was also asked about any LGBTQIA+ family or friends and whether they needed to understand Bain’s sexuality to support him. Their answers showed full acceptance without requirement for understanding.
Geonu:
I actually have an LGBTQ friend, but regardless of that, I just wanted to understand and try to understand as a person. I think that’s what the world needs right now.Lim Jimin:
JUST B is like my family. I do not have to understand him entirely; I just accept him as he is. During the performance, right after he sang on the stage, I started crying.Geonu:
I think that’s the best answer; he’s got the better answer! [Laughs] Because it’s not even about understanding, it is just accepting.DY:
Bain is actually the first person in my life, but honestly, I’ve always admired his beautiful voice regardless of his sexual identity, so it never really mattered to me.
JUST B’s supportive stance offers a fresh look at idol reactions to LGBTQ+ issues in K-pop.
