Suga is investing in a major American baseball team.
Reports say BTS member Suga will join veteran Korean baseball player Park Chan Ho in investing in the Major League Baseball team, the Athletics (formerly Oakland Athletics).
Park Chan Ho’s management company, Team 61, is forming a private equity fund investing $70 million in the Athletics. Suga and other mid-sized owners are expected to contribute to this fund.
The investors aim to secure a 2-3% stake in the team. The $70 million investment will help build a new home stadium in Las Vegas.
The Athletics, founded in 1901, have won the World Series nine times. Recently, they’ve struggled financially and with performance. They’re moving their home base from Oakland to Las Vegas, where plans include a $1.75 billion stadium set for completion in 2028.
A Team 61 rep confirmed preparations for the private equity fund but declined to confirm participant details or investment amounts.
