ITZY is in contract renewal talks with JYP Entertainment.

The discussions come as the group prepares to release their new mini album, ‘Girls Will Be Girls,’ during a press conference on June 9 at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul.

The album features five tracks, including the title song "Girls Will Be Girls," which is a vibrant dance track with impactful lyrics focusing on unity and resilience. The message? “If we can be together, that alone is enough.”

“We wanted to convey the message of solidarity,” said Ryujin.

Yeji added, "We thought this could be a great way to show the strong teamwork we’ve built."

The group, approaching their 7th year since debut in 2026, is eagerly negotiating with JYP. Chaeryeong remarked,

"It still feels surreal that we’re even talking about contract renewal, but we’re currently coordinating things with the company. We’ll do our best to bring you good news."

Regardless of the outcome, ITZY is set on both group and solo endeavors. Ryujin stated,

“We look up to our seniors who have continued their careers with strong teamwork.”

In terms of their upcoming musical direction, Yeji expressed,

“Just like our debut captured our ‘teen crush’ concept naturally, our music continues to reflect our evolving selves.”

ITZY is joining a competitive June comeback lineup with groups like aespa and KISS OF LIFE.

ITZY’s new mini-album, ‘Girls Will Be Girls,’ drops at 6 PM KST today on all major platforms.
