IVE’s Wonyoung and Starship Achieve Partial Victory in Lawsuit Against YouTuber ‘Sojang’

Wonyoung is facing controversy as IVE and Starship Entertainment secure a partial court win against YouTuber Sojang.

On June 4th KST, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Starship in a defamation lawsuit. Sojang, known for running a rumor-filled channel, has been spreading false claims about celebrities, including Wonyoung.

The court ordered Sojang to pay 50 million KRW ($36,500) to Starship, which is half of the 100 million KRW ($73,000) originally sought in damages.

In a separate ruling, Wonyoung personally won an additional 50 million KRW for defamation, putting more financial pressure on Sojang.

“The defendant is currently facing multiple defamation allegations involving fabricated content about seven high-profile celebrities,” noted court statements.

Sojang has previously been fined for similar cases, including 10 million KRW ($7,320) for defaming Kang Daniel, in addition to 30 million KRW ($22,000) in another case. Sojang was also ordered to pay BTS members V and Jungkook 76 million KRW ($55,700).

This situation continues to develop.
