Jungkook and IU are dominating the global K-pop scene!
A recent survey by Arirang TV named Jungkook the most popular male K-pop star, while IU topped the female category. The results were revealed on July 8, based on responses from 601 fans across 94 countries.
Jungkook snatched 12.7% of the votes. Jimin followed closely with 11.1%. The rest of the pack included RM (6.9%), V (6.5%), and J-Hope (6.0%). SHINee’s Taemin landed 4.9%, with BTS’s Jin at 3.7%.
For the females, IU scored a whopping 17.0%! BLACKPINK’s Rosé was second with 11.3%. Jennie and Lisa both garnered 10.6%. aespa’s Karina (5.5%) and Jisoo (5.1%) also made significant placements.
When it comes to content access, most fans (55.1%) use YouTube. Others prefer social media (14.4%), OTT platforms like Netflix (12.1%), and short video platforms (7.7%).
The survey’s largest respondent group came from the U.S. (17.6%), followed by the Philippines and Japan (both at 6.9%).
An Arirang TV representative stated,
“These results clearly demonstrate the global reach of K-content."
K-pop is clearly a worldwide phenomenon. With diverse participation and a strong presence on platforms like YouTube, the future of K-content looks bright!
