DAY6 is facing backlash over the ID verification process at their recent concert. Fans expressed outrage after experiencing excessive checks during the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING ‘PIER 10: All My Days.’
JYP Entertainment quickly responded with an official statement on July 21. They said:
“First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to the attendees… who experienced inconvenience and distress due to the identity verification procedures.”
The controversy began when fans pointed out that the external operator handling admissions requested unnecessary personal information. JYP admitted:
“We have confirmed the excessive collection and request of personal information during the concert… causing discomfort to fans.”
The agency clarified that the intent was to prevent illegal ticket resales but acknowledged their failure in managing the situation:
“We take full responsibility for this matter and will take all necessary steps to prevent any unfair collection or invasion of personal privacy in the future.”
Fans worried about discriminatory practices also fueled discussions online. JYP promised full refunds for those unable to enter due to the ID checks. They will announce further details soon.
In summary, JYP is treating this seriously, and they vow to make sure remaining fanmeetings can be enjoyed without issues.
