Eaj is facing controversy after his candid TikTok comment about the K-pop industry went viral. The former DAY6 member, now a solo artist, responded to a video discussing the struggles of being the least popular member in a K-pop group.
The TikTok video stated, "Imagine how it would feel to be in a Kpop group and you’re the least popular…" Eaj quickly took to the comments, sharing his own painful experience.
"This was me in Korea. It hurt going to fan-related events. Producers were told not to give me lines in our 2nd comeback. At every single fan event, I was reminded that I didn’t belong there. It took a while to get used to it, but I eventually did."
He added that he appreciated the love from his overseas fans and urged others to be kind to all members during fan events.
Korean netizens reacted swiftly. Discussions erupted in online forums, with many supporting Eaj while others criticized him. Some fans pointed out that he wasn’t the least popular member:
"DAY6’s fandom supported all members, and he wasn’t the least popular. Why is he acting like he had it so bad?"
Comments like,
"Didn’t he leave voluntarily? What’s with him?"
and
"He wasn’t exactly a popular member, but he wasn’t completely ignored either."
fueled the backlash.
Fans remember Eaj as one of the more iconic members of DAY6. Yet, some voiced disappointment, questioning his narrative after leaving the group during a challenging time.
