Park Gyuri is facing controversy as she’s named a witness in the high-profile fraud trial of her ex-boyfriend Song Ja Ho, CEO of Pica Project.
Reports from Sports Kyunghyang confirm she’s listed as a witness for the July 16 trial at the Seoul Southern District Court.
If she shows up, her testimony will be behind closed doors. However, her attendance isn’t guaranteed as she’s currently overseas.
Song Ja Ho was indicted in July 2023 on multiple charges, including fraud and violations of the Capital Markets Act. Allegations swarm around him raising investments for unsecured artworks and manipulating the value of PicaCoin. This scam reportedly caused losses for over 14,000 victims, totaling approximately 33.9 billion KRW (about 24.2 million USD).
The controversy began during his public relationship with Park Gyuri, which lasted from 2019 to 2021. Their age gap—initially reported as 7 years—was actually 12 years.
While dating, Park Gyuri served as Chief Communications Officer (CCO) at Pica Project. She was previously summoned as a reference witness, stating:
"I was not involved in any illegal activity related to the cryptocurrency business. I did not gain any unjust profit. I was only questioned as a reference witness with no direct involvement in the art coin project and cooperated fully with the investigation."
Park Gyuri’s agency has yet to comment on her potential court appearance.
