NewJeans is facing backlash after KBS aired false claims about the group’s legal status and music releases.
The controversy began with the August 8 episode of KBS 1 Radio’s Feeling Successful with Lee Dae Ho. A securities company researcher on the panel made inaccurate statements, saying NewJeans “was confirmed to belong to ADOR” and “accepted this,” and that they “officially released music under NJZ.”
Fans quickly called out the misinformation on KBS’ petition board, demanding corrections and safeguards against future errors.
Soon after, KBS issued a formal apology on the program’s homepage and YouTube channel. The network also removed or edited the problematic segments and deleted related articles.
“During an in-depth interview on KBS 1 Radio’s ‘Feeling Successful with Lee Dae-ho’ on the 8th, we discussed ‘the current state and outlook of the entertainment industry’ with an external guest.
During this segment, comments were made about NewJeans’ lawsuit situation and music releases that were not accurate. We sincerely apologize to NewJeans, their fans, and our listeners for causing concern and confusion.”

KBS added they will strengthen internal verification and broadcasting standards to prevent similar mistakes going forward. Fans are still monitoring the situation following the apology.
