Kim Soo Hyun is facing mounting lawsuits and asset seizures after a personal controversy hurt his public image.
The controversy began with Cuckoo Electronics, part of Cuckoo Holdings Group, ending their exclusive 10-year modeling contract with Kim following backlash over his alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
On April 24, 2025, Cuckoo Electronics filed for a court-ordered asset seizure of ₩100 million KRW (about $73,500 USD) targeting Kim’s bank accounts and loans. The Seoul Eastern District Court approved the request on May 20.
Soon after, on May 2, Cuckoo Electronics sued Kim for ₩850 million KRW (about $625,000 USD) in damages. Along with Cuckoo affiliates like Cuckoo Homesys, they filed a combined lawsuit against Kim and his agency, Gold Medalist, demanding over ₩2.00 billion KRW (about $1.47 million USD).
Previously, medical aesthetics company Classys placed a ₩3.00 billion KRW (about $2.21 million USD) seizure on Kim’s luxury apartment in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on May 8.
