A 60-something man in South Korea was arrested for fatally shooting his own son with a homemade gun, sparking outrage nationwide. The suspect reportedly aimed to kill more family members, including grandchildren, but was stopped before he could.
The shooting happened three days ago. The victim was a man in his 30s. Police found tools and materials at the suspect’s home used to build the firearm.
The suspect kept motive vague at first. Under questioning by two criminal profilers, he admitted his son stopped giving him financial support last year. He said the son’s business was doing well but offered no help.
My son had been supporting me financially, but he stopped last year. His business is doing well, but he still didn’t help me, so I acted out of resentment.

Family members revealed more horrific details. When the victim’s wife left momentarily to help her husband, the suspect reloaded the gun and chased after her. He also threatened to break into the room where the children were hiding.
When the daughter-in-law briefly left the room to try and save her husband, he reloaded the gun, shouted, and chased after her.

Police confirmed the suspect bought metal piping, a main gun component, the same year his son stopped support. The investigation continues as the public reacts to this brutal crime.
