Korean Man Sparks Backlash Over How He Used Girlfriend’s Sexual Assault Settlement Funds

Korean Man's Usage Of His Girlfriend's Sexual Assault Settlement Money Triggers Massive Outrage

A Korean man faces backlash for demanding to use his ex-girlfriend’s sexual assault settlement money for their wedding

A viral post revealed a Korean man tried to use his ex-girlfriend’s ₩50,000,000 KRW (~$36,231 USD) sexual assault settlement money for wedding expenses. The woman refused, wanting to keep the money for herself, and broke up with him.

She wrote:

“I received my sexual assault settlement money…and because the crime was heavy, I received 50,000,000 KRW (~$36,231 USD). But my boyfriend (we are broken up now) asked to use the money for our wedding fees.”

“Although the money received will never be enough to erase all that I suffered, I told him that I wanted to hold on to it and not use it for our marriage. Then he told me to spit out all the money he spent on me.”

The financial gap between them was also noted:

“Before marriage, woman’s assets ₩350 million KRW (about $253,000 USD), man’s assets 80,000,000 KRW (~$57,972 USD).”

Netizens expressed shock about the assault that led to such a high settlement. The woman shared more details:

Netizen: “What did you go through to receive 50,000,000 KRW (~$36,231 USD) in settlement money?”

OP: “They forced me to do oral and took off my clothes, and all of this was captured on the office CCTV…”

Support poured in for the woman’s decision to end things. Comments included:

“Seems like you only met stupid motherf*ckers. Glad that you broke up. Hope you are happy.”

“Are they even human?”

“These stupid Korean men…just live by yourselves.”

“Your life would’ve been a waste if you married a guy like that.”

“The perpetrator and ex-boyfriend need to die.”

“Why would you get married?”

The story is gaining traction and netizens are standing firmly behind the woman’s choice to walk away.
