Leejung reveals Cha Eunwoo was the real-life inspiration for “Soda Pop” dance in KPop Demon Hunters
Famed dancer Leejung opened up about the viral “shoulder dance” from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, dropping a surprising tidbit: ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo was the real-life reference behind Jinu’s dance moves.
Leejung told Star News she didn’t base the choreography on any one idol. Instead, she said the music itself fueled her creativity.
Leejung: “There wasn’t a specific reference. For me, good inspiration comes from music itself. The music was so good that I was able to let my imagination run wild.”
But fans quickly noticed Jinu’s moves in the movie strikingly resembled real-life K-pop styles, especially Cha Eunwoo’s. Leejung confirmed this connection in the interview.
Leejung: “A few choreographies immediately come to mind, and I’m so thankful that so many people tried it out. Rather than who did it best, the one that struck me the most was Cha Eunwoo. I heard Cha Eunwoo was a reference for Jinu, so when the real Cha Eunwoo covered the dance, it felt like ‘human Jinu’ had come to life.”
Cha Eunwoo’s cover of the “Soda Pop” dance from KPop Demon Hunters instantly went viral, building on the hype surrounding the movie’s top-tier choreography.
Leejung called the project “incredibly fun” and thanked both the production team and fans for their support.
