LE SSERAFIM is facing backlash after handing out cheap convenience store snacks as fan gifts at a recent music show. Fans who attended the event received snack packs worth less than ₩1,000 KRW (about $0.73 USD), along with a postcard of the girls.
Compared to other K-Pop acts known for extravagant fan gifts, LE SSERAFIM’s offering was widely criticized online. Netizens called the snacks “cheap” and insincere, especially considering they are under HYBE, a major agency.
Fans commented:
“They said that the girls were in the red. Seems like it’s true.”
“Bbeongiyo (rice puffs) and Bbusyeo Bbusyeo (ramyun snack) LOL. Seems like LE SSERAFIM finds it a pity to spend even ₩1,000 KRW (about $0.73 USD) on fans.”
This isn’t the first time fans have complained. Previously, the group handed out snack sets from Coupang, which added to the perception that they don’t invest much in fan gifts.
“Their ahjussi fans on Gallery keep going around treating other female idols like punchbags while vowing to protect them, but LE SSERAFIM is giving them Daiso snacks LOL.”
The controversy highlights growing fan expectations for idols to show appreciation with more lavish gifts.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie is often praised in contrast for her extravagant fan gifts.
