Minnie of (G)I-DLE Sets the Record Straight on Luxury Rumors
In a recent episode of the talk show Romantic Foreign Laborers, (G)I-DLE member Minnie finally tackled the swirling rumors about her affluent background. Fans have long speculated that the singer was part of Thailand’s elite “Hi-Sso,” akin to South Korea’s chaebols, with whispers of royal lineage floating around the internet.
During the show, Minnie candidly denied these claims, asserting, “I’m not rich! It’s too much for me to straight up be like, ‘Hi, I’m rich!’ Also, there’s way too many others who are richer.” She emphasized that although her mother inherited a resort from her grandparents, financial status isn’t as simple in her view.
While discussing her family’s history, Minnie cleared the air around claims of her being related to royalty. After making a call to her mother, she discovered none of the royal ties were true.
What’s more? Her father did serve as the vice-president of the Bank of Siam, but Minnie pointed out that the context is different in Thailand compared to South Korea. “In Thailand, a VP position can be earned through work,” she clarified, noting, “My dad was just an office worker there, albeit a high up one.”
The revelation reflects Minnie’s desire to keep it real with her fans, as she navigates the complexities of fame and family legacy. “As for the resort, my mom runs it now,” she added, which certainly puts her at a more favorable financial standing.
