Much-Awaited K-Drama Premieres With Underwhelming Ratings Despite Star-Studded Cast

Highly-Anticipated K-Drama Debuts With Disappointing Ratings Despite Idol-Studded Cast

ASTRO’s Sanha and OH MY GIRL’s Arin face tough ratings for their new drama My Girlfriend is the Man!

The show premiered on July 23 with a nationwide rating of just 1.7%, far below the cast’s hopes. The idols had confidently set a target rating of 10%, which now looks distant.

The drama centers around idol stars, including Chuu as a main character alongside Sanha and Arin. Fans praised the chemistry of the two leads even before airing.

Comparisons are already being made to The First Night with the Duke, starring 2PM’s Taecyeon and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun, which debuted with a 3.3% rating and finished around 3%. My Girlfriend is the Man! trails behind significantly.

International fans remain positive about the series, but the low viewership is raising eyebrows domestically.

“…they expressed confidence by saying their target rating is 10%, which is far from the reality.” — Nielsen Korea report

The idol-actor transition continues to be a rough path, with idols like Sanha, Arin, and Chuu caught in the spotlight where fan love doesn’t always equal ratings.
