aespa’s Giselle faces backlash over leaked housing info
aespa’s Giselle is under fire after news about her renting a luxury home in Cheongdam-dong went viral on community sites.
The controversy began when reports revealed Giselle secured a mortgage with a ₩100 million KRW (~$71,900 USD) credit limit on the Pie n Polus officetel in Seoul.
The mansion-sized unit includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The mortgage, reportedly used instead of a jeonse (long-term lease), points to a monthly rent surpassing 15,000,000 KRW (~$10,678 USD).
According to the real estate registry, the mortgage was finalized January 21.
Interestingly, former SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man also owns a property in the same complex.
Netizens quickly reacted, criticizing the public exposure of Giselle’s private living details.
“I don’t think an article about this was necessary.”
— netizen comment
“It’s not even an article about a celebrity making billions off of selling or buying a home. Why would you reveal a female idol’s residence?”

“Why are they posting an article about this?”
“Has this news site ever released an article about an idol’s rent before?”
“It’s not like she bought a house…it’s just about her monthly rent…why would you write about it?”
“Isn’t an idol’s residence private information?”
“Do we have to know where an idol lives and how much rent they pay? Can’t believe they posted an article like this and make money from it.”
“Ok? I hope the reporter reveals their address too.”
The backlash is gaining traction as many question the ethics of reporting on an idol’s private housing details. No official comment from SM Entertainment or Giselle has been made yet.
