Ju Haknyeon is facing major controversy after being linked to soliciting prostitution with former Japanese adult film actress Kirara Asuka.
On June 18, 2025, THE BOYZ announced Ju Haknyeon’s departure following reports from News1 citing Japan’s Shūkan Bunshun. The reports claimed Ju Haknyeon and acquaintances met Kirara Asuka at a bar in Tokyo’s Roppongi district and made illegal solicitations.
Soon after, his agency, One Hundred, terminated his contract and confirmed his exit.
Korean media further alleged Ju Haknyeon solicited prostitution during the encounter.
Ju Haknyeon denied the accusations in a handwritten Instagram letter.
quote
On May 30, 2025, I had been present at a gathering with alcohol involved around dawn, along with my acquaintances. It was true that I was there, but it is totally untrue that I participated in neither illegal actions or prostitution as suggested by articles and rumors. I am deeply reflecting over my actions and want to offer my sincerest apologies to those who were shocked.
— Ju Haknyeon
Netizens quickly criticized his apology, pointing out awkward spacing in his letter, especially the word “wor-ried,” suspecting it was written under instruction.
quote
Firstly, I’m sorry to have wor-ried everyone due to such unsavory matters as well as the fans who were very shocked by the news reports about me.
— Ju Haknyeon
Comments mocked the odd break in his sentence and questioned the sincerity of his letter.
- “Then why did you leave LOL.”
- “Did his company stop an article from Bunshin? Did they make a move before Bunshin’s next article? Whatever it is, the truth will come out I guess.”
- “Did you write down exa-ctly whatever someone texted you?”
- “Seems like he wrote it like that in case he gets caught up in legal complications.”
The scandal continues to gain traction as fans and netizens monitor the situation closely.
