NewJeans is facing controversy as they reportedly lost yet another brand ambassadorship. The group remains on an indefinite hiatus amid a legal battle.
In July 2024, NewJeans was appointed as the “Honorary Ambassadors of Korean Tourism.” Their role aimed to encourage young people to visit Korea. Even with their ongoing conflicts, NewJeans committed to the position "with a joyful heart."
Now, recent sightings show their tourism ambassadorship posters being replaced by those of IU.
Though IU’s ambassadorship hasn’t been officially announced, it’s expected soon.
Fans have taken to social media to voice their thoughts.
“This really hurts to see.”
“They’re losing all their brand deals; I feel bad for ADOR.”
“IU is better.”
“NewJeans is over.”
Many debate whether IU or NewJeans represents Korea better. As the backlash grows, comments like “It’s just greedy to remove NewJeans’ advertisement like this” highlight the group’s struggles.
Despite the drama, some netizens express hope for NewJeans, saying “I really hope NewJeans wins their case…”

One mistake NewJeans made was having the arrogance to think that no one could replace them. But the truth is always… there will be someone who can replace you. pic.twitter.com/cxn2RjOoxo
