NewJeans is celebrating their 3rd anniversary with a new video, but fans are feeling a mix of gratitude and sadness. The clip, titled “NewJeans Day: We Are NewJeans,” was shared on July 22nd KST.
In the video, the members light candles on a cake to mark the date. Haerin said,
“It doesn’t quite feel real yet. I think it’ll be very different to see people reacting to what we do.”
Minji added,
“I really want to spread our music to the world as soon as possible. I want to show everyone what we’ve prepared.”
Behind-the-scenes footage from a May 2022 music video shoot also features the members reflecting on their time together. Hyein recalled,
“I was so happy dancing at the amusement park. That smile was genuine.”
Hanni chimed in,
“It was my first time dancing outside while following the camera. It was so fun that I forgot to call my parents and got scolded.”
When discussing their public image, the group expressed a desire to connect with fans. They said,
“We want to be like close friends. We’re just people like everyone else, so we hope people will see us that way—as friends.”
Fans have taken to social media to react, sharing bittersweet sentiments:
