NewJeans is facing backlash over a strange legal move in their contract battle with ADOR.
On July 24, the Seoul Central District Court held the third hearing to determine the validity of NewJeans’ exclusive contracts with ADOR.
Before arguments started, NewJeans’ legal team asked the court to block certain evidence from being openly mentioned—specifically anything collected unlawfully or sensitive.
Despite this, ADOR referenced a KakaoTalk message where Min Hee Jin allegedly said, “I’m going to take them [NJZ] back after three years.”
NewJeans’ lawyers immediately protested, accusing ADOR of exposing private info against their wishes.
The court rejected their protest. The judge said this info is already public.
Judge:
“Even I know about it. Do you think reporters don’t? You can’t just interrupt during the arguments. Please refrain. This whole ‘taking them back’ issue is something we’ve all already heard.”
Korean netizens quickly slammed NewJeans’ request as out of touch. Comments include:
- “They still don’t seem to grasp reality.”
- “Why are they acting so stupid?”
- “Aren’t they lawyers? Why are they making such unreasonable moves?”
- “Where on earth did they find these lawyers? They’re doing such a poor job.”
- “Honestly, the NJZ members themselves are just being a nuisance.”
As NewJeans’ legal fight drags on, their courtroom strategy is raising as many questions as the case itself.
