Park Bo-gum is facing backlash in the latest episode of Good Boy. His character, Yoon Dong-joo, was brutally ambushed, leaving fans stunned and the ‘Goodvengers’ in disarray.
Episode 6 aired on June 22, scoring a 6.4% nationwide rating and a 6.5% in Seoul, a personal best for the series per Nielsen Korea.
Dong-joo’s sacrifice to save the special violent crimes unit pushed the team to retaliate against Oh Jung-se’s Min Joo-young and his cartel. Their target? A batch of ephedrine for the new drug, ‘Candy’. They got intel from arrested suspect ‘Bbung-pil’ (Kwon Dong-ho), tracking the smuggling route to Inseong Port. Customs restrictions complicated their plans.
A breakthrough came when Go Man-sik (Heo Sung-tae) developed a rash linked to ants from Russian cargo. Using this as leverage, they coordinated with customs to quarantine the area as pest control, gaining covert access. While searching, they faced off against Ma-gwi (Lee Ho-jung), an enforcer for Joo-young. Though she escaped, they seized hidden drugs stashed in teddy bears.
Back at Inseong Police HQ, Joo-young struck back. With insider help, he set a trap to retrieve the seized drugs. Meanwhile, Oh Jong-goo (Jung Man-sik) staged a fake protest using hired thugs, diverting the riot police and leaving the special unit vulnerable.
An ambush erupted in the Jungdong Tunnel, trapping the unit as the cartel took control. Intense combat ensued as Dong-joo and Man-sik entered the fray. Dong-joo’s narration, “There are days when, no matter how you calculate… the bullet still strays off course,” hinted at the dire situation.
Ultimately, the cartel’s plan succeeded. The team was overwhelmed. But in a surprising twist, Dong-joo returned on a stolen motorcycle, charging at Joo-young’s trailer. The battle is far from over.
Good Boy airs Saturdays at 10:40 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 p.m. KST on JTBC, also streaming on Netflix and Disney+.
