A shocking development has emerged in the case involving national footballer Son Heung Min and the couple accused of blackmailing him, identified as ‘Yang’ and ‘Yong’. Today, Yang, a woman in her 20s, and Yong, a man in his 40s, appeared in court for a pretrial detention warrant hearing.
The duo is accused of extorting over 300 million KRW from Son, allegedly threatening to release evidence of Yang’s pregnancy with Son’s child if he did not comply. The two previously dated, and in June 2024, Yang sent Son ultrasound images as part of their blackmail scheme.
While there were doubts about the authenticity of Yang’s pregnancy, police have confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. By reviewing her hospital records, they established that she had undergone an abortion and that the ultrasound images sent to Son were genuine. However, it remains unclear whether the baby was Son’s.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine if Yang utilized the pregnancy as a means of blackmail. During her court appearance today, Yang reiterated her denial of the blackmail accusations.
