Hwang Jung Eum Officially Finalizes Divorce After Years of Turbulent Relationship
After a prolonged and often tumultuous period, actress Hwang Jung Eum has officially finalized her divorce from businessman and former professional golfer Lee Young Don. On May 26, 2025, her agency, Y.ONE Entertainment, confirmed that the court had approved their divorce through mediation, marking the end of their nearly nine-year marriage.
Grounded in amicable proceedings, the agency noted that the real estate asset freezes reported during the lawsuit were standard practices for dividing joint property and would now be lifted, allowing both parties to move forward with their lives.
Hwang’s romantic history has been a topic of public fascination, notably her past long-term relationship with SG Wannabe’s Kim Yong Jun. The pair, who met during the filming of a music video in 2005, publicly dated for several years before ending their relationship in 2015.
In late 2015, Hwang began dating Lee Young Don. They quickly moved forward, marrying in February 2016, and welcomed their first son in August 2017. However, the relationship faced challenges. In September 2020, Hwang filed for divorce for the first time. During mediation, they reconciled, and by late 2021, they were expecting their second child, born in March 2022.
Despite their efforts to salvage the marriage, it ultimately wasn’t meant to last. In February 2024, Hwang filed for divorce again, determined this time to see it through.
Amid the legal turmoil, Hwang briefly dated basketball player Kim Jong Kyu in 2024, but the relationship fizzled out just two weeks after it became public.
The court’s decision on May 26 officially closes the chapter on Hwang Jung Eum’s nearly decade-long relationship with Lee Young Don. Fans continue to support her as she transitions toward an exciting new phase in her life.
