Yoon Ji Ni’s Ongoing Journey After Painful Burn Incident
Fans have expressed their deep sympathy for actress Yoon Ji Ni, who recently revealed the lingering effects of a painful accident during a cosmetic procedure. Best known for her role in the beloved 2012 K-drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, Yoon Ji Ni suffered a second-degree burn on her face back in 2021.
In reports emerging from March 2025, it was disclosed that the incident occurred while she was at Dr. A’s clinic in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Yoon had undergone multiple wrinkle-reducing treatments, including ultrasound and laser procedures. While sedated, a burn was inflicted on her left cheek, which was covered with a moisture bandage at the time. Unfortunately, this treatment resulted in a significant injury that was later diagnosed as a second-degree burn.
Since the incident, Yoon Ji Ni has committed to over 50 treatment sessions in hopes of healing the scar. However, a recent vlog from May 20, 2025, showcased her wearing light makeup, which accentuated a noticeable dark spot beneath her left eye—thought to be the scar from that fateful day.
During her daily updates, Yoon candidly shared her struggles. Viewers couldn’t help but feel compassion as she navigated through her challenges, especially since the timing of the burn coincided with her filming for the weekend K-drama Young Lady And Gentleman. The injury led her to spend an additional ₩9.55 million KRW (approximately $6,990 USD) on CGI effects to edit out the visible scar from her scenes.
In a significant legal turn, Yoon Ji Ni took action against Dr. A, suing for ₩200 million KRW (around $146,000 USD). The Seoul Central District Court recently ruled in her favor, acknowledging the dermatologist’s medical negligence. The compensation awarded totaled ₩50 million KRW (approximately $36,600 USD), a sum that included ₩11.2 million KRW for the scar treatment, ₩11 million KRW for future necessary treatments, ₩10.8 million KRW for potential lost income, and ₩25 million KRW for emotional distress.
In her personal life, Yoon Ji Ni has found joy beyond her career. She married finance expert Kim Tae Geun in October 2022 and welcomed their first daughter in March 2023. Continuing her journey, she gave birth to their second daughter on February 24 of this year, embracing the challenges and joys of motherhood.
