KATSEYE’s Megan is facing backlash after revealing she felt pressured to come out as bisexual.
Megan came out earlier this month to widespread fan support. But in a recent interview, she admitted the decision was unexpected and came after ongoing speculation from netizens.
Megan revealed,
“I feel like a lot of people have been kind of asking and like spectating, especially with like me. So I just decided to do it, it was so unexpected. I was with Lara when I came out on just like a Weverse live, but the amount of love I’ve been getting from it is heartwarming and the support has been really nice. I was scared at first but now I feel really open and myself.”

Fans quickly reacted, expressing sadness that Megan was apparently forced into it by public pressure. Many criticized the fanbase for speculating about idols’ sexualities and pushing them to reveal personal details.
One fan tweeted,
“in hindsight, megan was /basically/ forced to come out cos a lot of people (im guessing eyekons) were spectating and asking abt her sexuality… which is sad
please let the girls be themselves and let them share what they want to share.”
Another wrote,
“my heart feels so heavy for megan she basically felt forced because of all those comments im just glad she felt loved and accepted but still no one should ever be forced to come out just so others would shut the hell up about their sexuality”
Supporters of Megan are calling out the fanbase for creating an unsafe environment, with one apologizing for the targeted speculation.
“With this context, I think it’s important to remember that eyekons should not be speculating on any member’s sexuality.
I’m truly sorry Megan felt targeted by a fanbase meant to be a safe space.
This targeted speculation should not and will not continue in this fanbase.”
The controversy shines a light on the intense pressure idols face regarding their private lives. Fans continue to champion identity freedom, but stress it must come from the idols themselves — not from outside speculation.
