Popular Idols Disclose Company Overlooked Warnings About Culturally Insensitive Outfit

Popular Idols Reveal Company Ignored Warnings Against Dressing Member In Culturally Offensive Look

THE BOYZ is facing backlash over styling in their comeback teaser amid ongoing group controversy.

The group announced their 10th mini album a;effect. This comes after the contested expulsion of member Ju Haknyeon, stirring mixed fan reactions.

Fans noticed member New wearing what looked like a durag in teaser images. Durags are a protective hair garment tied to Black culture and fashion.

Non-Black individuals wearing durags often face accusations of cultural appropriation. Fans called out the company for insensitivity and poor timing, especially following the member controversy.

“kicking out a member and releasing a cb right after u can NOT be more insensitive wtf. also making chanhee wear a durag is jst another proof that this fucking company is setting them all up”

Both idols Jacob and Kevin addressed the styling issue during a live stream on July 25. They revealed they warned management about the outfits early on but were overruled by stylists.

Kevin said that upon seeing the final look, it still resembled a durag too much. They promised to cut out as much as possible during production.

kevin and jacob addressed the durag situation:
both kevin and jacob have voiced their opinions about this to the management way before, but apparently the stylists thought it was more like a beanie with legs. when kevin later saw the final product, he still thought it looked too…

Fans are angry the company ignored direct feedback from the idols and that English-speaking members had to address the issue instead of their agency, ONE HUNDRED.

this entire situation is so ridiculous and could’ve been avoided so easily and also sucks knowing kevin and jacob felt the need to address it because they know 100 won’t

so they expressed how it looked too similar to a durag yet the company ignored these concerns during pre-production/production, only to take in account the concerns during post-production? 100 i’m afraid you want to sabotage them

Why would you not listen to your artist’s feedback? Especially over something being perceived as a durag
Poor decision by both the stylists and the management team.

The controversy is gaining traction amid ongoing scrutiny of THE BOYZ’ management and recent group turmoil. The comeback rollout continues despite fan backlash.
