Former NCT’s Taeil is back in the legal ring.
On July 16, Star Today reported that the prosecution and two co-defendants indicted alongside Taeil have submitted an appeal to the court. Taeil’s appeal status remains unconfirmed.
Taeil was sentenced on July 10 to three years and six months in prison. The court also ordered completion of a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.
Netizens reacted strongly, calling the sentence too light for the crime. The prosecution originally demanded seven years in prison plus ten years of employment restrictions before the trial.
Taeil’s final statement before sentencing said:
“I deeply regret the hurt I caused the victim and apologize to everyone disappointed by this incident. If you show leniency, I will consider this my last chance at life and do my best to contribute to society.”
The case is now moving into its next legal phase as appeals proceed.
