Go Youn Jung Reflects on Chemistry with Jung Joon Won in ‘Resident Playbook’
Actress Go Youn Jung recently expressed her insights on collaborating with co-star Jung Joon Won in the popular series Resident Playbook. In their roles, they portray a couple navigating a complex relationship, with Jung Joon Won playing Gu Do Won, both the boss and brother-in-law of Go’s character.
The unexpected popularity of their romantic storyline has taken both the cast and crew by surprise. Go Youn Jung shared that even the director and writer were caught off guard by the audience’s reaction. She noted, “We didn’t expect to get this much attention. Even the director and writer didn’t see it coming. The actors were flustered too. In our group chat, the cast teased Joon Won oppa, asking, ‘How does it feel to be a superstar, future brother-in-law?’”
However, the pairing has faced scrutiny due to their eight-year age difference, with Jung Joon Won born in 1988 and Go Youn Jung in 1996. This age gap is reflected in their characters, which raised concerns among the production team. Despite these challenges, Go expressed a sense of satisfaction with audience reactions. “We had some concerns because of the age gap, but seeing people say that Yi Young and Do Won made their hearts flutter, it was really rewarding,” she remarked. She praised Jung Joon Won’s acting abilities and shared that his humor on set lightened the atmosphere, making their collaboration enjoyable.
Fans may be disappointed to learn that Go Youn Jung and Jung Joon Won did not maintain close contact after filming wrapped. She acknowledged that she hadn’t kept in touch with him, thus missing the impact of their on-screen popularity following the show’s conclusion.
