BLACKPINK’s Rosé makes VMA history with Song of the Year win

BLACKPINK’s Rosé scored a major win at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on September 7.

She took home Song of the Year for her collab with Bruno Mars, “APT.” This marks the first time a K-pop artist has won a major VMA category. The event was held at UBS Arena in New York.

Rosé appeared on stage in a gold gown and said:

“I can’t believe this,” Rosé said.
“This moment feels like a reward for all the effort that’s been put in.”

She also gave a shoutout to Bruno Mars during her acceptance speech.

Rosé was nominated in a record-breaking eight categories this year. These included Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, and Best Direction.

Meanwhile, all BLACKPINK members got nods in the Best K-pop category for their solo songs. Lisa won her third trophy for “Born Again” alongside Doja Cat and Raye.
