In an exciting development for K-Pop enthusiasts, SM Entertainment is set to acquire a significant stake in Great M Entertainment, the agency behind the rising boy group 82MAJOR. This partnership marks a pivotal step in SM’s vision of implementing a “multi-label system,” a core aspect of their ‘SM 3.0’ strategy. The initiative aims to create a vast network of independent production hubs and labels, focusing on the ongoing growth and management of intellectual property.

Founded in March 2020 by Kim Young Sun, a former director at FNC Entertainment, Great M has quickly made a name for itself. The agency launched 82MAJOR in October 2023, and the boy group has since captured global attention for their innovative style and unique sound. Their latest release, the third mini-album titled ‘Silence Syndrome‘, dropped in April, and buzz is building for their upcoming solo concert ’82 Syndrome’ in Seoul, scheduled for June 6-8. Following that, they’re gearing up for their inaugural North American tour set to run from June through July.

Looking ahead, SM Entertainment has plans to invest in a variety of both domestic and international labels. This strategy aims to diversify and expand their musical offerings, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the entertainment industry.
