On June 5, the agency announced it has filed criminal complaints against individuals for defamation, insult, and distribution of manipulated content targeting aespa. This includes defamatory posts, deepfake materials, and sexually harassing comments that have been circulating online.
The controversy began with extensive reports from fans and internal monitoring. SM confirmed they have gathered solid evidence against those responsible for malicious activities. Several suspects have already been identified, and some faced final convictions, including sentences of three years in prison, suspended for five years, along with fines.
SM Entertainment reiterated its strong commitment to protecting its artists.
“We have gathered substantial evidence against those who post or spread false claims, slander, sexual harassment, mockery, or malicious content about aespa.”
