SM Entertainment Issues Apology Over aespa Karina’s Instagram Post
In a recent turn of events, SM Entertainment has stepped up to address the controversy surrounding aespa’s member, Karina, and her Instagram post that raised eyebrows among fans and netizens alike.
The entertainment company issued a formal apology after some interpreted Karina’s upload as a potential political statement amid South Korea’s preparations for its 21st Presidential Election. Karina’s post featured her wearing a red jacket accompanied by the number two, which sparked speculation that she might be signaling support for Kim Moon Soo, the candidate from the ruling People Power Party known for his conservative stance. In contrast, the Democratic Party’s candidate, Lee Jae Myung, represents the color blue and the number one.
SM Entertainment pledged to be more vigilant moving forward to avoid such conflicts, stating, "We hope that the artist’s intentions will no longer be distorted or framed with certain intentions. We will do our best to protect Karina and all of our artists."
