Red Velvet’s Yeri faces backlash over trainee days spine clinic story
Red Velvet’s Yeri sparked outrage after revealing she was sent to spine clinics during her SM Entertainment trainee days to help with height growth.
On Hyeri’s Club, Yeri shared memories of being scolded for eating when she wasn’t supposed to. She recalled sneaking out to order pizza with other trainees at the clinic — getting caught every time.

“To help us get taller, they’d send us to places like spine clinics. One time, I ordered pizza with the other trainees there. I still don’t know how we got caught, but we did. I was always getting in trouble over food.”
Fans reacted with concern and frustration. Many questioned the safety of sending minors to spine clinics and criticized SM Entertainment’s harsh methods.

The backlash grew as fans linked this to Yeri’s past disclosures of herniated discs and chronic back pain. Many blamed these ongoing health issues on the trainee practices she described.
“And now she have 2 herniated discs… Coincidence? You should never touch the spine without a real medical issue. Fuck SM!” — Twitter user @LuciferShamu
