Park Junhwan is facing serious controversy. The Starship Entertainment trainee, originally part of the upcoming boy group IDID, has been accused by his former classmates of "sex addiction" and rape.
Screenshots of alleged text messages surfaced, revealing a pattern of misogyny. As the allegations gained traction, fans quickly voiced their outrage, demanding accountability from Starship Entertainment.
Initially silent, the agency finally responded on June 2, announcing that Park Junhwan would not debut with IDID.
In their statement, Starship emphasized Park’s innocence:
"The recent rumors circulating online about Park Junhwan are entirely false. We have thoroughly verified through his complete academic records… that [he] is a diligent and responsible student."
Starship also clarified that it was Junhwan’s decision to step away, citing severe psychological distress due to the "baseless rumors." They pledged continued support for his recovery.
"We have been working with professional medical staff to support his psychological recovery."
The agency confirmed plans to take legal action against those spreading malicious rumors, especially given that Junhwan is a minor.
IDID will now debut as a seven-member group, including Minjae, Yonghoon, Junhyuk, Wonbin, Yoochan, Semin, and Sunghyun, with a debut planned for the second half of this year.
