Kim Taeyeon denied appearance at Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival amid identity mix-up
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon is at the center of confusion after festival organizers mistakenly listed her as a performer for the upcoming Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival on September 19.
Initial promotional posters featured Taeyeon, drawing attention since she hasn’t performed at a local festival in a while. Fans and netizens buzzed after a netizen claimed to have confirmed her appearance through festival organizers.
However, SM Entertainment quickly denied any involvement.
“We have never been invited. We hope that fans will not be confused.”

The real controversy stems from a mix-up with trot singer Kim Taeyeon (born 2012). Festival officials said the listing was a mistake and that "’Kim Taeyeon’s appearance is not true.’"
Meanwhile, the trot singer’s agency clarified she had initially confirmed but later withdrew.
Jangsu county officials posted an official statement on social media:
“While recruiting signers for the festival, the recruitment of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon was unsuccessful. However, the list of candidates for the performers and the poster draft were leaked externally. We express our regret for disappointing local residents and Taeyeon fans.”

Netizens slammed the organizers for poor communication and the fallout from the error.
Comments include:
- “The county officials said they were trying to recruit idol Taeyeon so…”
- “I hope the young singer doesn’t get hurt by this…the adults are sorry…”
- “I wouldn’t appear either if they are coming out like that…what is wrong with them, hurting a young child like that.”
The situation is being treated as a case of miscommunication between the festival agency and local officials, leaving fans disappointed and confused.
